Greater Birmingham Humane Society

The Greater Birmingham Humane Society's division of Animal Care & Control serves Jefferson County and its municipalities from our location in Birmingham, AL.

We regulate uncontrolled domestic animals, assist with bites and attacks, investigate animal cruelty, pick up strays, rescue injured animals, and promote responsible pet ownership. Our services include comprehensive veterinary assessments for all intake animals.

At GBHS intake, every animal receives full vaccinations, flea and tick treatment, and a 24/7 veterinarian coverage is available if needed.
