La Plata County Humane Society, Pet Adoption

La Plata County Humane Society is located in Durango Colorado and serves La Plata County. We provide vital shelter for pets in need.

We offer adoption, spay/neuter services, and address animal cruelty through our Animal Protection Department. Learn more about our Pet Shelter and Surrender options.

Our Thrift Store is a unique way to support our animals while finding great deals! All proceeds directly benefit the pets in our care.

Founded on compassion, our mission is to protect, return, and rehome vulnerable pets. We assist over 6,000 pets each year thanks to the generosity of our community.
