Simpson County Animal Shelter

We ensure all shelter animals receive Core Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Parvo) as part of our standard medical protocol before adoption or placement. This includes DA2PPV (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza) and Rabies vaccinations to protect their health and prepare them for their new homes.

Every animal entering our shelter undergoes Heartworm Testing & Prevention as part of our comprehensive care program. We provide initial testing and start them on monthly heartworm prevention medication to safeguard their long-term health.

We administer Flea & Tick Prevention treatments to all shelter pets before adoption. This includes monthly preventative medications to ensure they leave our care parasite-free and protected against common external parasites.

All animals in our shelter are Microchipped & Registered with their adoption information. This permanent identification increases their chances of being reunited with their family if lost and ensures their safety throughout their lifetime.

We perform Parasite Deworming (Intestinal) for all shelter pets as part of our standard medical care. This helps eliminate internal parasites and ensures they are healthy and ready for adoption.

We offer Digital X-Rays (Radiography) as part of our diagnostic services for shelter pets in need of advanced imaging. This includes cases requiring x-rays for fractures, internal issues, or pre-surgical assessments, funded through our Medical Care Fund.

We provide Spay & Neuter Surgery for all adoptable animals in our shelter. This critical service helps control the pet population, improves their health, and reduces the risk of certain cancers and behavioral issues.

Our shelter occasionally provides Emergency Stabilization for animals requiring immediate medical attention, such as infections, injuries, or severe conditions like mange or heartworm disease. We rely on donations to fund these critical treatments.

We conduct Quality of Life Assessments for animals in our care to determine the best course of action for their well-being. This includes evaluating pain, mobility, and overall health to make informed decisions about their future.
