Welcome to The Humane Society of Union County! For more than 30 years we’ve been dedicated to animal rescue in the Monroe, NC area. As a foster-based organization, our animals live comfortably in volunteer homes.

We offer adoption services for dogs and cats, helping them find their forever families. Explore opportunities to foster or donate to support our work!

Wellness & Preventive Care

Core Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Parvo)

Available

We offer Core Vaccinations such as Rabies, K-9 Distemper/Parvo for dogs, and Feline Distemper at low-cost prices. Proof of prior vaccinations may be required.

Heartworm Testing & Prevention

Available

We offer Heartworm Testing ($20) and a variety of prevention options, including oral, topical, and injectable treatments tailored to your pet’s weight. We provide both over-the-counter and prescription-based solutions.

Flea & Tick Prevention

Available

We supply Flea & Tick Prevention products such as ParaDefense (OTC), Bravecto, Simparica Trio for dogs, and Selarid/Bravecto for cats. Options are available based on your pet’s size and weight.

Microchipping & Registration

Available

We provide Microchipping & Registration services at an affordable cost of $30 per microchip, ensuring pets can be identified and returned if lost.

Parasite Deworming (Intestinal)

Available

We offer Parasite Deworming treatments for intestinal parasites based on your pet’s weight. These services help maintain your pet's health by eliminating internal parasites.

Surgery

Spay & Neuter Surgery

Available

We provide affordable Spay & Neuter Surgery for dogs and cats, including puppies/kittens aged 4 months or older. Our services include pain management and discounts for seniors (60+), rescue groups, veterans, and military personnel. Up-to-date rabies and distemper vaccinations are required.
